RefRat

    Fields of activities

The RefRat represents the student body of Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin (HU). It is directly bound by the resolutions of the Student Parliament (StuPa) and deals with the day-to-day business of the student body. The RefRat is organised into sixteen departments (see side menu). The RefRat sees itself explicitly as a political representation and not as a service provider. Each department has one or two equal representatives who are elected by the StuPa. Only the so-called autonomous departments are elected by certain student groups and subsequently confirmed by the StuPa. The RefRat appoints two spokespersons from among its members.

The term ‘Referent_innenrat’ only exists at the HU. At the other Berlin universities, the name ‘Allgemeiner Student_innenausschuss’ (AStA) is prescribed by law, which is why the official name of the RefRat also bears the addition ‘gesetzlich AStA’. Nevertheless, there are significant differences to an AStA, as the RefRat departments are elected individually and not by a ‘coalition government’. This means that no new RefRat is constituted after StuPa elections, as is the case at universities with an AStA.

    Plenum

The plenum session currently always takes place on Tuesdays at 17:00. During the lecture-free period, the plenum only takes place every other week.

You are welcome to join us in our office at Ziegelstraße 4 on the first floor.

++Our office is currently not barrier-free due to renovation work. If stairs are a problem for you, but you still want to come by, please contact us. We will find a solution. (And put pressure on the university to put our lift back into operation!)++
